Artist Agreement
Effective Date: April 29, 2026
Last Updated: September 22, 2026
This Artist Agreement (this "Agreement") is entered into between String Music, LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company with offices in Nashville, Tennessee ("String," "we," "us," or "our"), and the individual or entity creating an artist account on the String Service ("Artist," "you," or "your"). You accept this Agreement by checking the box that references it when you create your artist account, or when we ask you to accept an updated version. Using any artist-side feature of the Service after that also confirms your acceptance.
This Agreement supplements, and is in addition to, the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, DMCA Policy, and Request and Dispute Policy (collectively, the "Policies"). In the event of a conflict between this Agreement and the Terms of Service with respect to artist activity, this Agreement controls.
1. Eligibility
To create an artist account, you must:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
- Be a performing musician, band, or duly authorized representative thereof;
- Have the legal right to perform the songs you list, accept tips, and receive payment in your own name or under the name of the entity you represent; and
- Be eligible to receive payments through Stripe Connect in the United States.
If you are creating an account on behalf of a band, ensemble, or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to bind that entity to this Agreement.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including your legal name, performing name, handle, song catalog, song pricing, and payout details. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials. You may not transfer your account or your handle to a third party without our prior written consent.
Each artist or band may have only one active artist account at a time. We reserve the right to merge, deactivate, or rename accounts that are duplicative, inactive for an extended period, or that infringe a third party's name or mark.
3. The Service for Artists
String Live enables you to:
- Publish a public artist page at stringmusic.live/[handle];
- Maintain a song library and one or more setlists;
- Start and end shows, accept fan-submitted song requests with optional pricing tiers, and receive direct fan-to-artist shoutouts;
- Run shows in practice mode, in which payments are simulated, no card is charged, and nothing counts toward your earnings;
- Display the live request queue on a TV at your venue using crowd-display mode;
- Mark requests as played, decline requests, add songs to the queue yourself, and choose what to perform and when, at your discretion; and
- Access post-show analytics and a fan database from your dashboard.
Requests in the queue are ordered automatically by the total amount paid on each. A show closes automatically twelve (12) hours after it starts unless you extend it, and you may end it sooner at any time.
The Service does not perform songs on your behalf, deliver recorded music to fans, or license any third-party rights to you. You are solely responsible for your performance and for any rights or licenses required to perform.
4. Pricing and Payouts
4.1 You set the prices
You determine the price of each song in your library and any minimums for "open" or unlisted requests, subject to platform-wide minimums and maximums that we may set from time to time.
4.2 You keep 100% of the song price
For each paid song request, the fan pays the song price set by you plus a String platform fee. You are entitled to one hundred percent (100%) of the song price. The platform fee is retained by String, and the payment-processing fee is retained by the payment processor. The same allocation applies to boosts and shoutouts received during your shows.
The platform fee is not a fixed amount. It is calculated from the song price and varies with it, and is disclosed in full to the fan before payment is authorized. The platform fee is charged to the fan in addition to your price — it is never deducted from your earnings, and it does not reduce your one hundred percent (100%). The current calculation method is available on request and may change under Section 8 (Fees Are Subject to Change).
Card-processing fees are imposed by Stripe, not by String. String's platform fee is calculated so that Stripe's standard U.S. card pricing does not reduce the price you set. String does not guarantee the treatment of surcharges Stripe applies to particular cards, such as cards issued outside the United States.
4.3 Payouts via Stripe Connect
All payments and payouts are processed through Stripe Connect. Each fan payment is charged to your connected Stripe account, and String's platform fee is collected from that payment as an application fee, never from your price. To receive payouts, you must complete Stripe's onboarding flow, including identity verification, and accept the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Payouts are made on Stripe's standard payout schedule unless we or you adjust it within Stripe's allowed settings. String does not hold artist funds outside of the Stripe payment flow except in the limited circumstances described in Section 4.6 (Reserves).
4.4 Refund deductions (limited circumstances only)
Cash refunds are issued only in the narrow circumstances described in the Request and Dispute Policy, primarily documented platform errors such as duplicate charges or technical failures that prevented the request from reaching your queue. Routine declines and un-played requests do not result in refunds. A fan's payment stands once the request reaches your queue, whether you perform it, decline it, or the show ends before you reach it, and that payment is part of your earnings.
Where a refund is issued under Section 5 of the Request and Dispute Policy from funds already settled to you, that amount is deducted from your next available payout. If your balance is insufficient to cover it, the deficit will be carried forward and applied against future payouts, or we may invoice you for the difference.
4.5 Chargebacks
Because fan payments are charged to your connected account, if a fan initiates a chargeback with their card issuer for a payment made to you, the disputed amount and any dispute fee charged by Stripe are debited from your Stripe balance, and deducted from your String earnings, pending resolution. If the dispute is resolved in your favor, the disputed amount is returned. We will share information with you about each chargeback we receive on your behalf and, where reasonable, consult with you on the response. You authorize us to respond to chargebacks on your behalf using transaction records and any contextual information available.
4.6 Reserves
In the event of unusual chargeback activity, suspected fraud, or other risk to platform integrity, we may temporarily withhold a portion of your payouts as a reserve until the risk is resolved. We will notify you in writing if we impose a reserve and will release reserved amounts as soon as reasonably practical after the risk subsides.
4.7 Taxes
You are an independent operator. You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all federal, state, and local taxes on the amounts you receive through the Service. Where Stripe is required to issue an IRS Form 1099-K (or equivalent state form) based on your transaction volume, Stripe will do so directly to you. You agree to provide accurate tax-identification information when prompted by Stripe.
5. Your Content and Performances
5.1 Performance is at your discretion
You are not obligated to perform any specific song that is requested through the Service. You retain full discretion to:
- Decline any request for any reason;
- Choose which requests to perform and in what order you perform them;
- Add songs to the queue yourself; and
- End the show at any time, including before all requests are performed.
You agree to make a good-faith effort to perform paid requests during the show in which they were submitted, except where doing so is impractical or inappropriate.
5.2 Music-licensing responsibility
You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have any necessary licenses, permissions, or rights to perform the songs you make available on your String page, including any obligations to performance rights organizations such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, GMR, or their international equivalents. Most live-performance licensing is held by the venue rather than the performer; you should confirm with each venue you play. String does not provide, broker, or guarantee any music-performance license.
5.3 Original music and covers
You may list both original songs and covers on your String page. You represent and warrant that, with respect to original works, you own or control the rights to perform them. With respect to covers, you represent that the venue at which you are performing has, or you have, the rights necessary to perform the cover.
5.4 Public-display content
Your handle, name, biography, photo, song titles, song prices, and any artwork you upload are publicly displayed on the Service. You grant String a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate, market, and improve the Service.
5.5 Marketing rights
You grant String the right to use your name, handle, and likeness, and to feature your performances on the Service, in case studies, and in marketing communications, in each case in a manner that is consistent with the brand voice described in our Brand Identity guidelines. We will, on reasonable written request, refrain from using your name in any specific marketing campaign on a going-forward basis.
6. Conduct and Standards
You agree to:
- Conduct yourself professionally on stage and in your interactions with fans and venue staff;
- Not use the Service in connection with any unlawful, harassing, or discriminatory conduct;
- Not solicit fans through the Service to engage in any activity outside the Service that would violate our Terms;
- Not use the Service to circumvent or evade fees, including by directing fans to alternative payment channels for transactions that originated through your String page during a show;
- Not list or accept requests for songs whose performance you know to be unlawful in the relevant jurisdiction; and
- Not impersonate another artist or band.
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations.
7. Dispute Decisions
We retain final authority over the integrity of the platform and the protection of fans, including operational decisions about when limited platform-error refunds are issued. Where a refund is issued under the limited circumstances of Section 5 of the Request and Dispute Policy, we will notify you and, where reasonable, consult with you in cases involving disputed performance.
8. Fees Are Subject to Change
We may change the platform fee, minimums, maximums, or other commercial terms at any time on at least thirty (30) days' prior notice to you. Notice may be given by email or in-product. If you do not agree to a change, your sole remedy is to deactivate your account before the change takes effect.
9. Term and Termination
9.1 Term
This Agreement begins when you create your artist account and continues until terminated.
9.2 Termination by you
You may close your account at any time by emailing support@stringmusic.live. Pending and completed requests at the time of deactivation will be processed and paid out per Section 4.
9.3 Termination by String
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for: (a) breach of this Agreement or any Policy; (b) failure to complete or maintain Stripe Connect onboarding; (c) elevated risk indicators (chargebacks, fraud signals, suspected impersonation); (d) prolonged inactivity; or (e) any other reason permitted by the Terms of Service. Where reasonably practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to cure.
9.4 Effect of termination
Upon termination, your public page is removed, your handle is released back to the platform, and pending payouts are processed subject to any outstanding chargebacks, reserves, or refund deductions arising from documented platform errors. Sections 4.4, 4.5, 4.7, 5.4, 5.5, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14 survive.
10. Independent Contractor
You and String are independent contractors. Nothing in this Agreement creates an employer-employee, partnership, agency, joint-venture, or franchise relationship. Neither party may bind the other to any obligation. You are responsible for any business expenses, taxes, equipment, and venue arrangements.
11. Confidentiality
In the course of using the Service, you may receive non-public information about the Service, fans (including the fan database export), and platform performance. You agree to use such information only for the purpose of operating your artist business through the Service and to protect it with the same degree of care you use for your own confidential information (and no less than reasonable care).
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless String and its affiliates and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of: (a) your performance or failure to perform any song through the Service; (b) any rights claim, including by a performance rights organization, songwriter, publisher, or co-performer; (c) your use of the Service; (d) your violation of this Agreement, the Policies, or applicable law; or (e) your violation of any third-party right.
13. Limitation of Liability
THE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY SET FORTH IN THE TERMS OF SERVICE APPLY TO THIS AGREEMENT AND ARE INCORPORATED HEREIN BY REFERENCE.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee. The dispute-resolution provisions of the Terms of Service, including the binding-arbitration clause and class-action waiver, apply to disputes under this Agreement.
15. Changes to This Agreement
We may update this Agreement from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
16. Miscellaneous
The miscellaneous provisions of the Terms of Service (including entire-agreement, severability, no-waiver, assignment, and force-majeure clauses) apply to this Agreement.
